Attention all A1 Dancers

Yankee Twirler Summer Twirlerama Dances

Due to the decreasing number of dancers and the ever increasing costs involved with sponsoring dances, we are no longer able to sponsor a summer dance program without a financial commitment from our dancers.

During the past few weeks we have talked about the upcoming Twirlerama program.

First the good news:  We have permission to use the Woburn Senior Center for this year’s Twirlerama program.  We thank all of you who signed your name to one of our registration lists.  The names were not shared, but the count was in our application.  We would like to hold ten dances beginning Wednesday, June 28 and concluding on August 30, 2006.  A preliminary pass at the schedule for callers and cuers  looks very similar to the past few Twirleramas.

Now for the Issue at Hand:  We feel that we need an upfront financial commitment from you who currently attend our dances, or have danced in the summer with us the past few years, and hopefully want to continue A1 dancing on a regular basis.  A copy of this proposal is available on the treasurer’s table so that you can take it home, read it, and make a positive decision to enable us to offer an advanced dancing program on a regular basis.  We are also mailing this to those whom we just see in the Summer, and to inactive Yankee Twirlers who may wish to help us continue the tradition they once shared.

Our math says we need financial support from 17½ couples for the 10 dances.  We need this commitment by check on or before the March 18th dance.  Naturally we will just hold the advance funds until we have the total we feel we need to go forward.  We are asking for $120 per couple to cover the 10 dances.  (10@$12)  If we get this upfront commitment, we will be able to put the program in place on June 28.  We will be asking for a $15/couple donation from everyone else that attends this year’s Twirlerama.  So you can think of your upfront support as a cost saver.

Checks should be made payable to YANKEE TWIRLERS and may be mailed to Bob and Doris Moore, or given to them tonight, or at the next two dances.  We will announce the outcome for Twirlerama 2006 at the March 18th dance.  We hope that there are enough of you who want to continue dancing Advanced Level on a regular basis and are able to make the commitment up front.
